The Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness launched be homeful in December, 2014. This campaign is a bold and innovative project designed to help Americans stamp out family homelessness for good. Our mission is to end homelessness one family at a time for the 1,000 families in Connecticut that experience homelessness in any given year.

While shelters across the state are bursting at the seams, there is currently no major source of funding to keep struggling families from slipping into homelessness in moments of crisis. By making funds available to keep families in the comfort of home, we can help break the cycle of homelessness that can carry forward across generations.

Through community partnerships and collaboration with families across Connecticut, the be homeful project will establish the first state-wide emergency assistance fund for shelter diversion. This fund will be accessible to case workers serving families at the front door of shelter and will reimburse expenses for rental assistance, security deposits, gas cards and other sundry expenses tied to diverting family from shelter in favor of actual homes.

Connecticut REALTORS® Care

For three years running, Connecticut REALTORS® Care has sponsored Paddington bears for our be homeful for the holidays promotion, allowing CCEH to put funds towards much-needed emergency assistance for families facing homelessness. REALTORS® also led the charge for two years running to "raise" gifts for the campaign and delivered bears and books to shelters throughout the state of Connecticut.

Citizens Bank

A long-time supporter of the Coalition's work, Citizens Bank made a $25,000 to support our 2017 be homeful for the holidays campaign. Their generosity allowed us to provide "bear-raiser" kits to companies and communities holding drives to benefit our project. Employees also wrapped presents and participated in the deliveries of bears and books to shelters around Connecticut. 


People's United Bank

In Spring of 2015, CCEH launched a partnership with People's United Bank to raise money for the be homeful fund. People's United Bank accepts donations at all 150 branches in Connecticut and kids can donate their “marmalade drive” coin donations at all locations with self-service coin machines.

Promotions


The Avon Theatre

In January of 2015, the Avon Theatre and Film Center helped us kick off the be homeful project with a special sneak preview of the hit live-action movie Paddington at their stunning historic movie theater in Stamford, CT. The Avon, an art house theatre, generously donated space and publicity for the Connecticut sneak preview of Paddington. 


Gilt.com

In December 2014, Gilt.com hosted a special flash sale of actual props from the soon to be released international family hit film Paddington, with proceeds going to directly benefit the be homeful fund.  The promotion raised more than $2,000--- enough to sponsor two families
